Growth Through Process | NJC Pitching Development

Another great trip out to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado — and another step forward for our pitching staff.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen tremendous growth from the players — not just in performance, but in how they approach their process. Each trip brings more clarity, more buy-in, and more confidence in the system.

We’re now at the point where pitchers are ready to start building individualized pitch usage plans and game strategies. With a deeper understanding of their pitch metrics, strengths, and identities on the mound, they’re learning how to think like complete pitchers — not just throwers.

The results speak for themselves: over 23 consecutive scoreless innings in the last four games. That’s not luck — that’s the result of pitchers owning their process, making adjustments, and executing consistently.

What’s even more impressive is that every pitcher in the program is seeing velocity gains without the use of high-intensity weighted ball programs or risky short-term methods. Instead, they’ve focused on ArmCare Custom Training and a comprehensive strength program led by Coach Paul Mrazik, which emphasizes stability, power, and recovery. The result is sustainable development — pitchers getting stronger, healthier, and more efficient every week.

A huge part of this continued success comes from Coach Andrew Kachel, whose experience as a pitching coach across multiple levels — paired with his background as a former catcher — gives the staff a unique edge. His insight helps bridge what pitchers feel with what catchers see, allowing athletes to understand the game on a deeper level and make smarter in-game adjustments.

The collaboration between staff and players at NJC continues to set a high standard for development — where education, communication, and performance all align. The foundation is set, the buy-in is real, and the results are starting to show.
